ABSTRACT landschap

From the museum or gallery, art can never react directly on the transformation of a specific building or site. In order to have a direct impact, art needs to take place in the process of that spatial transformation.

ABSTRACT landschap is my base for direct interventions in spatial transformations processes of buildings and sites that once were created to serve a historical, economical or political function. Their architecture is abstract: the structures, lines and rhythms don’t have any meaning (anymore) to the public beyond their function. However, or maybe even because of this, they are full of beauty. These sites can be opened for a new, autonomous interpretation, free of function. ABSTRACT landschap projects are collaborations with place-makers from various disciplines: artists, architects, spatial planners, archeologists, ecologists and others.
