Turning voids into sculptures | KCG Kunst Werkt

The city of Ede was about to transform a former military zone into a living area. They wanted artists to make an art work that would visualize the genius loci of this site.

I found this genius loci in the remains of the post-war military history, such as exercising objects, trees that had grown tall, big squares and tiny buildings. Being post-war, they had no monumental status, but they did show monumental qualities. Therefore, my concept proposed to not add a new sculpture as and art work for this future vinex quarter, but instead to integrate these existing objects as sculptures in the new public spaces that would be built.
