Once upon a time

Once upon a time
2016
Temporary installation in a barley field near Diepenveen; 1750 bamboo sticks and ink
30 x 30 x 1 m

The piece refers to the fictional history of the new village that would be built on this site after the harvest of the barley. The narratives were made up by the architect of the village in order to provide the village with a fictional identity. In one of the narratives, the disappearance of a huge square tower is suggested on this site. The installation refers to real archaeological sites, where grass grows poorly where ruins lie beneath.
