De Paltz is an estate which is situated next to former military airbase Soesterberg. This situation creates an interesting contrast between the silent and fairytale-like park with its trees, waterfall and flowers and the concrete landscape behind the fence. Mutation stresses this conflict, as it is based on the military observations posts that surround the airbase. The object is not imitated, but mutated into a vicious and unpredictable creature, as all of the military objects are awake from their post-cold-war-sleep since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
